With summer almost here, you and your family members should have a safe-sun plan in place. Make sure you apply sunscreen daily to exposed areas of the skin. This should be a year-round practice. When you are doing outdoor activities, ensure that all exposed areas are adequately covered with sunscreen. If you plan a day in the sun, you need to reapply sunscreen every two hours and immediately after water activities. Be prepared with protective clothing and seek shade whenever possible. And, don’t forget to take your omega-3 supplement daily!

Omega-3 fatty acids are well known for supporting cardiovascular health and helping to soothe both internally and topically (skin). They also help improve dry skin conditions, skin firmness, and by diminishing lines and wrinkles. Cumulative exposure to the sun can cause all of these conditions. However, a new study published in the May issue of Experimental Dermatology suggests that omega-3 exerts even more benefits on the skin.

The study reports that omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids have potential photoprotective benefits for skin exposed to UV rays. Many years of exposure to the sun can result in photodamage and photoaging of the skin, and can increase incidences of skin cancer. According to the authors, dietary omega-3 fatty acids may provide a “potential for systemic photoprotection through naturally sourced nutrients.”

At Isagenix, we believe in a whole-body approach to skin care, which includes nutritional cleansing, good nutrition and replenishing supplements along with the application of topical skin care products that support self-repair, regeneration and nourishment of the skin. To maximize your skin protection program, apply Rejuvity IsaSunGuard daily for UV protection and boost with Rejuvity Ageless Essentials Daily Pack for Men and Women (which includes the IsaOmega Supreme). IsaOmega Supreme is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids and is also separately available.
